Ten Thousand or Tens of Thousands?

Oh my goodness we had a long day!

We started bright and early this morning with a road trip through the Thai mountains complete with truck stop snacks and curvy roads!

After six hours in the car, we arrived at Mae Sot where we will be staying for the duration of our clinic days. We immediately got to work with our “pill packing party” to divvy up all the meds we will be handing out into week-long and month-long supplies.

Jadon and I were sent a package of multivitamins that weighed close to forty pounds that we were tasked with bringing all the way to Thailand, and by the looks of it, the other sixteen members got pretty much the same amount!

These medications originally came in boxes of 500 or 1,000, which simply would not do so we spent the afternoon labeling ziplocks and dividing these huge bottles into individual doses. By dinner, we had made a sizable dent and probably repackaged close to 10,000 pills!

We took a break for dinner, I almost died on a teeny tiny chili that packed the biggest spice punch ever, and we celebrated a teammates birthday with ice cream cake!!

After recovering from my near-death spice experience, we went back to our rooms where there were even more pills to be packaged! We had to have finished another 10,000 in the three hours after dinner and finally called it quits for the night.

Satisfied with the work we accomplished and trying to pretend like jet lag doesn’t exist, we are off to dreamland to get some rest before our first day of clinics tomorrow!!

Plans are changing quickly so it is unclear if we will be at the clinic or working in a nearby refugee camp, but I am excited to see what God has in store for us in the morning and I look forward to His faithfulness in guiding us to further His mission.

Blessings,

Shawna
