Broken Hands and Feet

One if my teammates shared a powerful illustration today that I love. He was talking about the illustration of being the hands and feet of Jesus and how much he enjoyed watching 40 hands and feet all work together to bring glory to God today. To alleviate suffering in the little ways we can.
But then he shared that all of those hands and feet are broken. We all came in to this mission with brokenness. Physical brokenness, maybe a situation at home which feels broken. Maybe a broken heart. But the beautiful part is serving in your brokenness. In fact, it was only through Jesus' broken hands and feet that we are rescued. And it is through that brokenness that we can rejoice!
We do not live in a perfect world by any means, there will be brokenness all around us at all times. But God did not call us to be perfectly well in order to serve Him or others, thank goodness!
I found this message so incredibly encouraging, especially today (a year ago today, I got my heart shattered into a million little pieces). God is a God who heals, but He heals from brokenness, which is somewhere we all are. I want to make sure I thank God more often for broken hands and broken feet.
